The church felt full of God’s presence

Patricia Heillier

On the 25th March 2012, in Allerton church, Somerset I made my life vow to the Single Consecrated Life. It is a small country village church in a beautiful setting which lent itself to close fellowship one with another. I was able to sit in my usual seat in the congregation, in the middle of the church, and from there at the appointed time move forward to make my vow to the Bishop. For me this was symbolic of God’s gift to me to be consecrated to Him in the midst of His people, and to be available as a channel of His peace and love through pastoral care and service to all.

Revd. Phillip Tovey presented me to Bishop Peter Price, Bishop of Bath and Wells who received my vow. It was a splendid service with friends from far and near joining us. The singing was glorious and the whole church felt full of God’s presence and His Holy Spirit. Friends told me it was an uplifting service and spoke of the deep sense of peace and joy experienced. I was very conscious of being held in the prayers of many and indeed sensed that deep joyful peace and completeness.

The parish celebrated with me after the service with tea and coffee and a wonderful cake especially made for the occasion. I so appreciated the support, love and generous words from many people and all who held me in their prayers. Thank you all.
